About us

1 €uro International e.V.

Thanks to the commitment of volunteers in Germany, the Christian support association 1Euro International e. V. was founded in Trier in 2007 with the aim of building a school in Monopol, Ethiopia. The village community wanted the children and families to be able to read the Bible. We are convinced that a good school education is the foundation for an independent life. Since then, the support association 1Euro International e. V. has been maintaining the Berhan School and projects related to the partner organisation's branch in Adama.

In 2012, sponsorships were established to provide targeted support to children in particular need. 1Euro International is a registered non-profit association.

The goals of our support for the projects in Ethiopia are:

  • To be a witness to God's love

  • To practise Christian charity

  • To spread the gospel

Nobel Action
Holistic Development

In order to carry out our work in Ethiopia, we need a partner organisation in that country. Since 2013, 1 €uro International e. V. has been working with the Ethiopian aid organisation Noble Action Holistic Development (NAHD). As a sign of Christian charity, we work together to provide humanitarian aid to the poorest of the poor.

Our history

Like many other projects, the work of “1 €uro International e.V.” started small. This work was initiated by the association “Die Bücherstube e.V.” (The Bookshop), which still supports the work today.

When Wim Hoddenbagh was in Monopole (Ethiopia) a few years ago and saw the many children who had no opportunity to attend school, he thought about how he could establish a school there. Over the years, this goal was achieved.

We would like to take this opportunity to mention Cornelius and Tina Linder, both architects, and thank them warmly for their commitment to the construction of the school. They drew up the construction plans and visited Monopole several times to supervise the construction work.

We would also like to thank the construction team that regularly came to Ethiopia to help with the construction. Thank you very much!
